Choosing a Class
The age recommendations outlined for classes have been carefully constructed to best group children in an age and developmentally appropriate way. Therefore, it is important that your child be at least the minimum age by the start of the semester for the class in which you are enrolling. If you have concerns about your child’s success in a particular age range, I am happy to discuss your child’s needs and to work with you to place him/her in the class best suited for him/her.

Make the Most of Kindermusik Classes
Plan to arrive about 5-10 minutes early for class. Arriving before class provides time for your child to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music. We do request that toys, juice cups, and pacifiers be kept out of sight, and that snacks be finished prior to class. Be sure to dress comfortably.
During class the most important thing you can do is to be an active and patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don’t be discouraged - what a child is absorbing in class is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment rather than in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consistency of the parent in
class and at home are key to facilitating musical learning and growth.
By the way, I love for parents to visit and talk with each
other before or after class, but not during class time, please! :) When you are active and focused in the class activity, your child will focus more fully too.
You and your child will enormously benefit from the Kindermusik experience, especially if you make active use of your At Home Materials. Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week makes all the difference in a child’s comfort and participation in the classroom.

Non-enrolled Siblings (Kindermusik)
Due to limited class sizes and the delicacy of the younger class settings, Kindermusik Village
â and Our TimeÔ classes can only accommodate non-enrolled siblings when the sibling is young enough to stay contented in a car carrier or stroller. Emergency exceptions are considered.

Spring Performance
In May, we will hold a Spring Performance for all our dance and keyboard students. Notices will be given in advance of day and time and also if anything is needed for this day. Cameras and videos are welcome (no flash photography please.)

Dance Attire
All dance classes require students to wear tights, leotard, and appropriate style shoes. Ballet skirts, jazz pants, and wrap sweaters (in colder months) are acceptable. Please no baggy t-shirts or jeans. Hair must be away from the face and no jewelry (small earrings acceptable.)

Waiting Room
During your child’s class feel free to use the waiting room. Please no food, drinks, or gum in this area as well as the classroom. We do request snacks finished prior to class but if need be, snacks may be eaten in the kitchen area. There is a sibling table in the waiting room for quiet play.

Make-Up Classes
Classes will be made up in the event of teacher illness, inclement weather, or emergency situation. I will notify you of the cancellation if it is due to illness or emergency. If inclement weather, please call the studio number for a recorded message. There will be a schedule of make-up days at the end of each session. If your child missed classes, you may come to another scheduled class during the week, but only up to 3 times per session. No refunds on missed lessons.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Credit Vouchers
Credit vouchers will be given if there are extenuating circumstances requiring withdrawal from class. All requests will be considered on an individual basis. The cost of materials and the $10 registration fee are non-credited. No refunds will be issued if family decides to withdraw from class after session has begun.
